Ear screening program details of Shree Jana Udaya High School, Sainbu, Lalitpur

Screening program was carried out by a team from Ear Care Nepal which included ENT Surgeon: Dr. Milan Maharjan, Dr. Chandan Baranwal, Audio-technician: Ms. Ramita Maharjan, Volunteers: Ms. Sujana Maharjan, Ms. Mary Maharjan.

Active participation and support was provided by the teachers during entire program.

  • Total number of students: 262
  • Total number with normal findings: 156 (59.54%)
  • Total number with wax: 73 (27.86%)
  • Total number with middle ear problem: 24 (9.16%)
    • CSOM 'TT': 9
    • ASOM: 5
    • Retracted TM: 8
    • PSRP: 2
  • SNHL: 7 (2.67%)
  • Myringitis: 2 (0.76%)
  • Students requiring surgery: 9

Don't be deaf...Listen to the story of these kids...

Aashish, Birendra and Manoj suffer from Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media, which is a chronic infection of a middle ear cleft. If left untreated, it may lead to hearing loss and even brain infection.

Get to know these youngsters with big dreams and their story until they go for an operation. The follow up on their story is going to be published in the end of December, 2017..
