Ear screening program details of Pashupati Mitra Secondary School

Screening program was carried out by a team from Ear Care Nepal: Dr. Milan Maharjan, Dr. Samjhana Phuyal, Mr. Binay Bikram Adhikari, Ms. Mana Shrestha, Ms. Prity Maharjan, Ms. Alina Madhikarmi, Ms. Elina Maharjan, Ms. Ramita Maharjan, Ms. Beatriz de Francisco & Mr. Txaber Ingunza.

Active participation and support was provided by the teachers during entire program.

• Total number of students ear screened: 424
• Total number of students with normal findings: 274 (64.62%)
• Total number of students with wax: 98 (23.11%)
• Total number of students with middle ear problems: 44 (10.37%)

  • Tympanosclerosis: 5
  • Retracted TM: 22
  • OME: 3
  • PSRP: 2
• SNHL: 5 (1.18%)
• Mixed Hearing Loss: 3 (0.71%)
• Total number of students with hearing loss: 19 (4.48%)
  • SNHL: 5
  • CHL: 11
  • Mixed Hearing Loss: 3
• Total number of students requiring ear surgery: 12
