Ear screening program details of Shram Rashtriya Secondary School

Screening program was carried out by a team from Ear Care Nepal: Dr. Milan Maharjan, Dr. Samjhana Phuyal, Ms. Prity Maharjan, Ms. Mana Shrestha, Ms. Alina Madhikarmi, Ms. Elina Maharjan, Ms. Ramita Maharjan, Ms. Beatriz de Francisco &  Mr. Txaber Ingunza.

Active participation and support was provided by the teachers during entire program.

• Total number of students ear screened: 276
• Total number of students with normal findings: 138 (50%)
• Total number of students with wax: 92 (33.33%)
• Total number of students with external ear problems: 3 (0.10%)
  • Otitis Externa:  3
• Total number of students with middle ear problems: 37 (13.40%)
  • CSOM TT: 8
  • CSOM AA: 1
  • ASOM: 4
  • Retracted TM: 19
  • OME: 4
  • Traumatic Perforation: 1
• SNHL: 3 (0.10%)
• Total number of students with hearing loss: 17 (6.16%)
  • SNHL: 3
  • CHL: 11
  • Mixed Hearing Loss: 3 
• Total number of students requiring ear surgery: 8
